walking downtown

just another reason that i love living downtown. these are some of the things i saw on my walk today*....which was quite eventful. Among other things during my walk i got offered a job, got caught in the rain(the kind of getting caught in the summer rain that is a good thing), and sat on the patio at my favorite little metro cafe with my journal and just savored the day.

happy thoughts

*whoever invented rss feeds is a genius. i know i'm pretty late on this train.........but that little feature on my "new" laptop's safari tool bar has changed my life. so if you see more comments from me, it's because i can kind of keep up with my blog friends these days. having a laptop is also brilliant. here i sit at panera, typing away. released from the confines of my broken down blue desk chair.

*i wandered over to fredflare.com today and daydreamed awhile over the cute bags, earrings, books, stationary, ipod cases and other cutie stuff. while i was there i especially enjoyed

these earrings

this book ,
from the author's of "Found", about a tresure trove of portraits found in a diner in indiana. oh to be so lucky to have found this.

these cute little papers, good for what? i don't know, i don't want to scrapbook. but they are just cute and i could make cards with them or something.

*life is good. my little cute mom is coming to visit this weekend. what a wonderful treat in life.

it's a sad day

yacht rock was cancelled. why does all the good stuff get cancelled? i hope they do something else with it and keep it going. it's too good to die so soon.

**edit 6.27.06
yacht rock is part of an ongoing contest from channel101.com. it is not actually on television. it is hilarious, and also available for download from itunes. basically it's a parody of the birth of smooth artists like kenny loggins and michael mcdonald. you just have to watch it yourself.

pink

You have new Picture Mail!, originally uploaded by goldiestereo.

think pink.
this is from one of a set of gorgeous trays that zabs gave me last year for my birthday.

i've enjoyed this color party and i gotta say i am sad to see it end. if there's an after-party.....somebody please let me know. this proved my theory.....i'd write more (and blog more) if i just had some direction or topic ideas to get me going.

so here's your big chance. tell me, readers (if in fact you are still out there)........what would you like to read from me?

orange/friday-a day late

DSCF0533.JPG, originally uploaded by goldiestereo.

happy birthday today to the sweetest boyfriend on the planet. here he is in a limo driver costume he wore to pick up a friend at the airport during E3. i really like the way the color turned out against the orange wall.

white/brown/black

a glass door knob from plum orchard on cumberland island in georgia. i could write blogs for days about cumberland island. for now, let's just say it is truly a place like no other.

fresh greens

i took so many green pictures today. seriously, SO many pictures of that kind of refreshing green that you can only understand if you live in ohio where winter lasts for what seems like 9 out of 12 months of the year and the grey days would not be so bad if only there was green and hills and quality air. so as i walked around on a tour of these beautiful gardens i took photos of all the lush green around me.

but.

i don't have my cord to upload the pics to my laptop. so that green will have to wait for another day.

meanwhile.
here's some fresh greens i saw in nyc this spring. they hit the spot too i think.

blue

day two in the color party and blue is the theme. this photo was taken at the columbus zoo's over rated manatee exhibit. captured here is a moment of gazing into the water and wishing with all my heart that we were at the beach instead. longing for the ocean. wishing i could stand right at the place where the tide comes up and washes over your feet, pulling the sand against you. there is nothing like that moment, looking out at the blue, blue water and the point where the ocean touches the sky. feeling the breeze, smelling the salty air, it all washes over you with a rhythm that matches the waves. in that moment, all my worries wash away. any troubles i had melt. my only concern is that i can take it all in and savor it as long as possible. it's not optional, it's a necessity......i have to go to the ocean soon.

yellow

here's my first in what will hopefully be a week of color fun. andrea has once again inspired me, so i am jumping in on her color party with this. this shot captures such a classic moment with my friends.....taking pics with the digital camera and then laughing at them. yellow roses mean friendship, so today these yellow daisies stand for friendship too.

yellow makes me think of cheery things....bright, sunny times. clean crisp yellow kitchens in the '50's and '60's. taxi cabs. the golden arches. days at the beach. flowery flowers. our dining room table that we had in the 70's. the contact paper my grandmother pitts used to cover everything. movie popcorn butter. a perfect little line of mustard on your hot dog. lemons, lemon sours from hillside pharmacy, lemonade, lemon bars and lemon icebox pie. comfy t-shirt material sheets. fuzzy and cute little baby chickies. daffodils. spring time. hollandaise sauce. eggs benedict. the yummy inside of a cadbury egg. a swiss dotted dress on a sweet little girl. national geographic magazine covers. my mother's house painted yellow with white trim.

hello yellow.

days like this

watermelon, carnival games, one slide whistle, yacht rock, summer break on the horizon, soft fabric, monkeys, koala bears, pretty blue butterfly, strawberry smoothies, .50 cent foot relaxation stations, shooting stars, delightful backyard patio dinner and conversation, tiki torches and nostalgic songs, surprise visits, the annual walk to the art festival, getting soaked in the rain and not minding, beautiful voices singing old familiar gospel songs giving me chills and tears in my eyes, peonies, air conditioning, kind clerks, computer love, swimming pools, party planning, points, daydreams, keeping in touch, touching a shark, riding a camel, spending more days at the zoo and amazingly liking it just fine, pretty stationary, yard sales, anticipating family visits from home, more vinyl, treasured poems, photo reminiscing, strings of days that are all the same in a time when everything is new.
